Infamous Engine Tap

Okay, I am new here but have been researching this problem a great deal the past week or so. I have read the TSB on cam phasers and even checked for a manifold leak. However...

Here is my situation. I have an 05 F250 with a 5.4 in it. About two weeks ago I noticed a tapping noise coming from, what seems to be, the passenger side of the engine.

The noise only seems to be around on the highway, you can hear it around town but barely. On the highway, especially while going up a hill and the engine is under load the truck really taps. It doesn't go away at certain RPM like with the cam phasers, and I have check the exhaust manifolds and they seem to be fine

The truck has had 5-20 synthetic in it it's whole life and a motorcraft or similar grade oil filter. I have no CEL's, and this noise worries me. I want it fixed, but none of the possible fixes are cheap and with not being sure what the problem is, brings me here.

Any ideas?

is that a 3v engine?

It's an 05 so I thought they all were that year.
