F150 5.4 spark plugs 2008

Searched for a dogs life AND cannot find any 100% answers.

Right I have an 08 engine code 7G-600-BB, build date 04-17-08.

Do I have the newer "Don't break" spark plugs?

I have black COP's but according to Roush I don't need updated sparky's with This code, some 08's require new plugs. Am assuming the later is the "saver of all F150"

Anyone got a link to a table with engine codes & build date data?

After MORE searching I found this thread

https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...8-up-5-4s.html

Turns out I have the 8L3E BLACK C.O.P's so have the new design plugs (Famous last words)

So 8L3E COP is the new plugs ..

2008 engines with late style 12 mm spark plugs can be identified by coil engineering number 8L3E
2005-2008 engines with early style 16 mm "High Thread" design spark plugs can be identified by coil engineering number 3L3E part number
All 2009-2010 engines use 12 mm spark plugs

If your coil boots are brown it is the new style, if the coil boots are black they are the old style.

Yeah but If you have the 8L3E COPS then they are for the 12mm plugs as stated on this WEBSITE

Mine are Black with the number 8L3E on top .. So uses the 12mm plug found in the 09+ .. Thats why I opened this thread to get a 100% answer ..

So the Brown COP's must be a Late Late 08 style COP's

EDIT: Think I will triple check them tomorrow thou ..

12mm spark plugs

I just had my 2004 5.4L Triton engine rebuilt. When I got it back the new spark plugs I bought for it didn't fit so I tried an old one and it didn't fit either. I called the builder and he said to put 12mm plugs in it. He didn't say what year the heads were that he used. Can I use my COPS that I just purchased for my old heads? They are black. Or if I need to replace the COPS. will the connectors work with my existing wiring harness?

I would think your rebuilder has some responsibility to answer these questions if he used different year heads on your rebuilt.
