Help! 97 F-150 4.6L truck won't start!

Truck was running okay... but decided on a "tune up" since the odometer is stuck at 216K miles since I bought it last May. Also removed AC Compressor and installed bypass pully since the compressor was locked up and making a terrible noise.

Changed the plugs and wires, checked 3 times to make sure the wires are routed according to all the diagrams I could find. What else could possibly be wrong? It's turning over, but just won't start. The old plugs were ground down to nothing, so I would hate to re-install them.

I am cross posting this because I need drive to work on monday! Thanks everyone for input!

What did you use for plugs and wires? Make sure everything you disconnected for access is reconnected, and look for things you may have knocked loose or broken.

Did you disconnect the battery first ?

When you removed the A/C compressor I bet you accidently disconnected the HDR sensor connecter as it is right behind the compressor on the front cover. If that connection is loose or disconnected the engine will crank all day but not fireup.

I don't think we disconnected the battery first, but we have disconnected it since trying to "reset" the computer. We have now taken the new wires off, put old ones back on. Still no crank. Next step is to take all the new spark plugs out and put the old ones back in. DynoTech, I know we did disconnect a wire near the front case because it's right in the way of the new pulley, but we've since plugged it back in. Thought it might be some type of oil pressure sensor... could we have messed up this connector unplugging it, and could a replacement be bought if so? it seems to Y off from the ac compressor switch, which isn't connected to anything.

Plugs: Autolite Platinum, Wires: Borg Warner (bought at O'reillys)

Is this the HDR Sensor your referring too? I will gladly pay $25 for this part, and put my new spark plug wires back on.

UPDATE! I just got under the truck... 6:17am... I'm an accountant, and that cam sensor switch is all kinds of tore up. My boyfriend will be replacing that this afternoon! THANK YOU!

But it still Y's off from the AC compressor switch which is dangling, and it seems like it's right in the way of the pulley if plugged in right... any ideas? I took some really bad pics... but you'll get the idea.

Yea, it DEFINITELY will not start if the CPS is not connected properly.

Also, -you disconnect the battery before a plug swap to keep from possibly frying the PCM and other electronic components.

The picture that OReillys has is of a cam sensor even though it says crank sensor. Same idea but your crank sensor will have a 45 deg angle for the connection instead of a straight one as shown. Yes you want a CRANK sensor (HDR) not a cam sensor and that is the no start problem...The cam sensor is on the top driverside front cover under the coil pack. Just so you don't get the wrong part if needed. No connection or bad connection there and no start. Just use some plastic tie straps to fasten the wire up away from the A/C and serpentine belt. Good job young lady!! Happens sometimes when the A/C compressor is replaced.

Right, look here. Same on your engine -

Was there an attachment, or was this in reference to the pic from before?
