Injector Issue 2005 FX4 Screw
I have an '05 FX4 Screw with the 5.4 3v, 145k miles, and last week on my way to work I got the blinking CEL for a misfire. Long story short, turns out the injector on my No. 1 cylinder was stuck open. I replaced it, had a MotorVac done on the engine, and changed the oil and now we're running good once again.
My big questions now concern what I should be doing moving forward. I'm definitely going to replace the fuel filter more often(used to go every 30k, switching to 15k), I change the oil every 5k. Should I start using Techron, or another additive to keep carbon buildup to a minimum? Should I start running every third/fourth tank with premium?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't change a thing on what you are doing. My dads 05 has a 150K on it just normal maintenance and oil changes no special additives and its a work truck
The only suggestion I have is that the 05s got a bad batch of injectors that were known to stick open. They had a 120K warranty on them but since you are out of that and have already had one stick open, I would replace the rest

I had this happen in my 05 Lariat before I knew anything about the injector issues. Lucky for me the small town dealer I limped into was able to get the TSB and Ford replaced my small block or short block which ever is correct. But it was a 3 week wait while Ford went over the claim and then ship the new block to small town Saskatchewan. Buggers would only replace the 2 defective injectors. Now to replace the older ones works out to be $90.00 per injector plus labor. Think I better sell this baby soon. FS
