4.6 Romeo vs Windsor in HP
#31
worked for a company (comau) that did work for both plants.
it was that the romeo plant was the car engine plant and windsor was the truck plant
there real close to being the same engine
the truck engine as a stronger bottom end
(like the old 4 bolt main vs 2 bolt main)
before 97 truck's came out they used the winsor engine line to make car engines becuse romeo chould not keep up with prodution.
as far as hp goes you have to compare the same engine. it really doesn't matter where
it's built.
when i worked on the head line for the romeo
plant there where 6 different cams for the car engine alone.
when i worked on the piston & rod line at winsor there was 3 different types of rings
for the 5.4 pistons.
both plants make alot of different models
of the same engines.

Here is a link to the actual differences between these two motors. I do not see anything which would indicate significant differences in horsepower gains via mods, only the possibility for the windsor to be able to withstand greater hp gains from mods due to a few "upgraded" components. I am not an engineer however so maybe somone else could take a peak and provide some info.
