Buy a car for mpg. Buy a truck for towing and hauling. That being said, make sure you are up on all maintenance, take it easy on the go pedal

what modifications do you have? huge tires? or a lift? 15 is reasonable for a truck that is well maintained not lifted with huge tires. Have you done maintenance? spark plugs cleaned the throttle body that kind of stuff.

Get tiny wheels and tires and drive like a blue hair. Nothing else will have as big an impact as those.

My truck dose not have tiny wheel and I dont drive like a grandpa to much yet I dont think. Fact is I'm kind of a lead foot. I average 15-16 most of the time.. 15 is a reasonable expectation. should be able to get that MPG..

11mpg for a 281 is not much no matter what it's in.

HA, ya at idle your getting 0mpg so that tends to drop the avg . To the OP last I checked I got 15.6 mixed and I have a fairly heavy foot. Regular maintenance and proper tire pressure is all you can really do with a truck.
drive like a blue hair
Isnt it white? Come live in Phoenix in the winter and you'll never get above 40 due to the snowbird effect!

If it's a 4wd, that sounds about right for a 4.6 on Missouri gas. That's what my son in law gets in town on his 98 4wd Scab.

Its stock other then 40 series flows n turn downs and 285's. Ford calibrated so speedometer was correct with new tires. I have hypertechs new Max programmer rated 31 horse and 39 ftlbs torque and magnaflows 2.5 in/out 4"x18 coming to replace flows for better flow out exhaust. And K&N futon. ( I think name) CAI I'm gonna put all on truck. Maynot help but already bought. Programmer I got brand new to door for 286.92 cats were 30.12 each and KN was 193 all to door. Thought I did good. Even though 285's id like differ gears but can't afford having them put in. So anyway that's what info I have. It doeshave allnew coils n bplugs Amanda oil. .changed. e. Erg 3k. Tires elated. Ever change the o2 sensors? That might help. use only motorcraft parts. CAI's are a waste of money but whatever.. clean the throttle body?

I average 20 to 21 on the highway. With my f150 4.6 4x4. I have 3.31 gears tho witch helps quite a bit. Even in the city i get 16 to 17 if im easy on it.
