2001 f150 coil problems

i have a 2001 f150 supercrew with a 4.6, ive been burning thru coils alot in the past year .today i was replacing coils and the motor burned thru 2 coils as soon as they were replaced, and also popped the 30 amp fuse for the pcm . with a voltometer the back driver side coil wire has a constant ground running to it while the other have a puling ground. can anyone help me?:help:

pulsing ground* .....sorry

A "pulsing ground" is what fires the coil. The "hot" side of all the coils should have the same common battery voltage on that side.

What is the # of the fuse that is blowing?

#30 on the interior fuse box

Disconnect the two RFI capacitors and see if the short-circuit goes away. There is one on each bank of coils.

how can I check the capacitors?

By disconnecting them..........

didnt work, i took it to a shop and they said i new a new short block, i dont know what that would solve with the obvious electrical problem..... is there any way it could be the computer?

projectSHO89 06-07-2011 07:04 PM

Take it somewhere where they know what they're doing.....

theres not much options where i live except for the dealership and they said they cant get to it for another 2 weeks, i mean whats this forum for?

You need the skills of someone who knows how to trace an electrical short circuit, something that particular shop apparently doesn't know how to do. That skill cannot be easily transferred to someone in this medium.
