Alright, good news..............it's in the car

Will post up pics tonight, but the motor is sitting in the mounts. I need to finsih up some loose ends, but all in all there is now a v10 in my 1999 Expedition.

Problems so far:

AC compressor contacts the steering arm mount by about .5 inches
Figuring out how to shoehorn this huge thing in there

I will take some in a few hours once the rain stops.

I need to finish the rest, but so far my only issue is that the tip of the ac compressor rests on the (Idler Arm?) mount by about an 1/8th of an inch. I think a BFH should do the trick. Picked up the new computer, v10 intake tube frome the bone yard. Anyone know where to get a complete v10 Throttle body and Intake Elbow adapter. I've got the entire intake except those two parts. Cant seem to find them in the junkyard for some reason.

Also, does anyone know who can do a decent tune on the stock ecu. I want to re-search prices vs buying my own software to tune on my own. I am an aviation electronics tech in the Navy so i think i can handle it.

I would personally take it to someone with a dyno and let them tune it, you will get much better results.

I would really love to get in there and "Learn" about automotive Software Engineering. I already do this on a daily basis with Avionics systems within Naval Aircraft. As far as the tuning goes, I just want to start off with things like removing PATS and Possibly doing an EGR deletion, after those, I will move onto More complicated things. That will be a whole different Thread though.

as you can see the AC Compressor barely hits that mount. Also, the stock expedtion Power steering pump Resivor hits the ABS Computer. I think with a little bend in the bracket, that will clear.

As far as the AC Compressor goes, I have yet to put in the Motor mount Bolts, and the motor is sitting about an inch lower than the holes right now. Maybe it will clear up after they are in, and if not i have a BFH.

The exhaust dumps are in the exact location. I know it looks like it isn't on the Passanger side, but thats just because its haning there. I will post more when i've got more done. If you got suggestions, throw them out there. That way we can help along anyone else to try this swap.

nice this is a way cool project! FYI if you get a chance to do cams or something I wouldnt worry about losing low end torque...I borrowed an f250 with the v10 and the low end was amazing BUT honestly I was very disapointed in the top end power...my truck with a 4.6 at the time (tuning, intake, & exhaust) actually was faster - granted my truck is lighter, but that thing is a torque monster! the one I drove was non PI heads, hopefully yours is a PI motor as that will probably help your top end a lot, plus tuning and better intake & exhaust setup that thing should rip!

finally got some finishing touches done today. I am still waiting on parts to arrive, but Ive got everything else taken care of.

Waiting on the v10 throttle body/plunem, and an ac condensor.

The exhaust did not line up as i thought. It was off by about 2 inches. I was able to 1 bank to line up, and the other is bolted in with 1 bolt, but is in the way of the front driveshaft. I will end up taking it to a muffler shop to remedy this offset. The only other "trip" to make is to the ford shop. I am not quite sure how the PATS system is going to work with my little Frankenstien.

I know that i can reprogram/relearn keys, but how does that play in with a new PCM in the wrong type vehicle. I will be calling Ford in the morning to find out if its at all possible for me to do with my 2 keys and the v10pcm. Or if its only a proccess can perform with their tools.

Anyone with any PATs Experience please chime in.

I don't know about your Ford dealership but i imagine they will charge a pretty penny to mess around with that. I would use that money to get a tune done for the truck and have the PATS turned off. I think that is what camdenlake did when he did his swap.

I agree,
a tuner with a custom tune will be the better and more powerful option.
A dealer will only give you a stock V10 tune! And will cost very close to the same as the tuner.
