HELP Hertz with this rental 5.4

I have a hertz rental work truck with the 5.4 39,000mi. 4wd 2005
The truck started missing suddenly on the way home. I put 200mi. a day on it now. Wherever the truck was previously it didnt get driven far.
The Hertz mechanic scanned it and got a lean on bank 1 and misfire #2cyl, he replaced the cop and the plug on #2cyl and that didnt change a thing.
Any suggestions i can tell the mechanic would be appreciated, I told him it sounds like the injector on #2 might be bad.The cel light constantly flashes because when you try to accelerate the engine vibrates seriously.

If it were my truck i wouldnt drive it, but my company pays $800.00 a month for this truck and ime not useing my personal F150 and letting this one sit. My job is 98mi. each way and i drive it every day.
I called Hertz when it started about 2 weeks ago and it got a little worse in those 2,000 mi. And now it sounds a little like it is starting to have a slight knock , probobly a main bearing i think. I guess if they dont care i wont either , when the knocking gets worse ill tell them to come and pick it up, before it lets me sit.
Its a shame i have been renting from them for almost 3 years straight now and this is the 2nd truck they had for me the 1st one was identical but i had 158,000 mi. on it and it needed a lot of work tires, ball joints, shocks, etc.

So what are you going to do when it the engine fails ? Just curious. This could very easily happen the next time you fire it up. I guess I don't see what your getting at, since the fix is free (warranty) and now your aware of the problem. (Most likely, this IS the problem).

You would think a company whose income is based on their service trucks making too and from the job would invest in a better mechanic. If the problem is the injector, which were recalled, well its probably too late but it will soon be the end of that motor if you keep driving it. At 39k miles, that's a shame.

Where are you from? I knew a Randy Taylor growing up.

The Hertz mechanic is coming to the jobsite tommorrow, i told him about the injector problem and i printed it out for him which i will show him tommorrow. He said he ordered a new injector and will install it , I hope this works. He told me they usually buy new trucks when they are 3 yrs old but with the economy the way it is they are keeping them longer and i guess they dont like sending them to FORD because they have a deductable to pay for each visit.

Oh, i forgot to mention this is the fifth time they are trying to fix this problem.

No, there's no charge what so ever under the injector warranty. Ford claims responsibility up to 110,000 miles ( it might be 100,000 miles, I can't recall exact number, one or the other.), - so the dealership gets paid regardless.

But its free.... It's a recall. And I would have them replace all the injectors before another fails.

Yea, that's what they usually do, - if the owner takes it in. In fact, I think they would have to since this could lead to manufacturer possibly replacing an engine in the near future lol.. It's almost crazy not to and doesn't make sense.

I dont understand Hertz thinking.

No. It isnt. If you read the link MGD provided you'd know that.

The less Hertz pays on maintenance the more $$ they make. In the long run it is cheaper to let things go than it is to repair them. After all they are going to write off this truck when it reaches their magic number of years or miles. If it dies on the road they will simply get you another one and sell off the dead one.
