Disconnect battery negative terminal to reboot PCM? -'99 5.4l Expedition

Can I just disconnect the negative battery terminal to reboot the PCM?

Yeah. Might wanta turn the headlights on and wait for a few minutes to make sure its drained completely..

It doesn't "boot". What are you trying to accomplish, exactly?

Going to clean my MAF, and want to clear all the "learned" data in the PCM.

Disconnect the battery before you start taking things apart to clean the MAF - by the time you get done the thing should be cleared.

Clearing adaptions (killing the KAM) takes less than 5 min without power. Turning things on makes no difference.

Pull fuse F2 in the under-dash fusebox while you're cleaning the MAF. Easier than getting a
wrench and you won't need to re-program your radio.

Too late. Wifey already asked "What happened? Why's the clock wrong!"

Idle is smoother after the MAF cleaning, but still a bit rough.

Maybe I need to clean the IAC? Although, I replaced it and the PVC "spider" hose a few years ago.
