The only thing holding me up from completing the efan install kit is what i should tie the ground wire into? I have a 99 5.4. What do you folks out there use? Thanks

i have heard fuse 18 (fuel injectors) will work. my 98 dosent have any so at the moment they are on 24/7 (if the probe is over 205) until I can tie it into my radio harness

if you have a CAI, the red wire going into the MAF will work. Ive heard mixed reviews about this- man say this causes an incorrect reading while others say it does not.

Why would you tie a GROUND wire into a fuse?

If you are looking for a ground I would just go to the negative side of the battery. Mines been working this way for well over a year now.

So the way i see it, why does it matter if its on all the time or not? All it is, is a sender wire correct? If it is, its not going to drain your battery and it only switches the relay to CURRENT when the prob reaches 205 degrees (your setting) correct? So couldnt i just tie it in to the battery and not make alot of difference?

If you tie into the battery it will continue to run after the truck it turned off.

Obviously your set up is different than mine. You need to find something that is powered up when you switch the ignition on and vica versa. My Flex-a-lite directions pointed me in the right place. I found an open slot in my fuse box that did not have a fuse or relay in it. and Tap a wire into it. Check my profile album, I've uploaded a pic for you to look at.

I have never used an ignition to switch my E-fan....your thermostat switch should do the job of cutting the relay on and off. I personally don't mind if my fan switches on after I turn off the truck.....the heat builds up quick without your water pump functioning. A lot of import vehicles had the same set-up as stock.

205 degrees is perfect for these trucks.

i dont really understand what you just said? Just to clearify my intentions, im trying to put my ignition wire from my electric fan controller/relay to an ignition wire in the vehicle, so my fans dont come on when the truck is shut off, it can cool down normally. Way i see it, less wear on the fans to make them last longer. Anyway, ya im still looking for an ignition wire.

SCOTTFF00 - So does the fuse box turn on when the ignition is on? If so i could pretty much find a wire coming out of the ignition box and tie it in with those blue wire splice thingys?

controller type

i really dont know i got it from auto zone for 15.99. Its a dual fan controller. Middle wire on coil pack harness did work btw and it works great, nice and close to were i mounted the controller. I wired indicator lights to the controller on each fan to the dash aswell and wireloomed and tapped and soldered EVERYTHING, so i am satisfied. I guess all i need to know is how to dial these things in for the right temp. Fans turn on about 15 minutes after starting and driving. All i know about the controller i have is what the wires do:

red wire with 30 amp fuse - power
blue wire - fan 1
orange wire - fan 2
green wire - A/C
yellow wire - ignition
black wire - ground
+temperature probe with detachable relay and apparently if the relay ever burns out i can replace it with a different one that autozone stocks for 9.99 and i wont have to rewire...I like that fact lol

thas all i know! And i see the dial on the controller itself but i dont know how to adjust it for temps.

Ahhhh.....completely different with what I have so now I see your point. Then I would agree with an earlier post and tap in the power distribution box for an ignition source.

Yellow wire should be tapped into an open slot on the fuse panel. Make sure you pick a slot that is powered on when you turn on the ignition.

Red wire would go to the battery terminal.
