I do not hear any ticks or anything. I just have a bad idle and no power. Is there any real test for the phasers?

I found a tsb abount the generator and a bad diode. From the sound of that tsb they didn't experience a rough idle or stalling though.

Camshaft position sensor

I am having the same problem. I've changed both sensors and the codes are still coming up. Is there any way to trace the wires without undoing the harnesses?

You should be able to test each line to ground then to the point at the pcm. I do not know the pins but I still dont think that is it. Something else is going on here that has nothing to do with the sensors. I may just drop the truck off at the ford dealer today and let them figure it out.

I guess since the motors timing is messed up their scope cannot tell what is wrong with the motor. They said it is electronically dead ad they are not getting correct readings at all as it is out of time. At 1st the service girl said Timing is off and they need $1000 to diagnose it. It looks like I am just going to find a new motor as the vct components alone are over $500.

Have you tried running the motor in safe mode? Unplug both cam sensors and see if the problem persists. You may not be getting the oil pressure up to the VCT on bank 2, therefore throwing the codes P0345. I have been running my truck, 04 screw (105000miles) in safe mode for about a year now. I bought the truck and started changing the oil myself, you guessed it, with fram filters. About 8000k later, code P0340 cam up. I have replaced VCT selinoids, cam phasers, alt, sensors, the whole nine. I finally think it has trash in the heads somewhere. Maybe from the fram filter, not sure. I would change out the head, but I think you have to take the cab off to get the head off???? I have been running Lucas oil treatment to help clean out the engine. I am going to try and plug in the sensors soon to see if the sludge is gone. Remember, do not exceed 3000 rpm's while in safe mode, as I hear the engine may break since the vct is not working????
