5.4 l spark plugs -- Ford 2, Me 6
Did my plugs this weekend in the '05.
6 came out just fine with AeroKroil and patience.
2 left various parts in the head--of course they were cyls 4 & 8 under the firewall. Got them out with a NAPA tool and divine intervention BTW, wish I'd gotten the Lisle tool.
I had let 4 & 8 soak overnight with an inch or so of Kroil and carb cleaner because those were the ones I didn't want to have to use the tool on.
Wondering now if 1) soaking with more fluid and 2) using really good penetrating oil vs the a little bit of carb cleaner that the TSB calls for is overkill. Might actually make it easier for the plug extension shell to pull out from under the crimp.
When I do this on my other F150, I'll skip the overnight soak part and save the Kroil until things seem stuck.
