As well, Adaptive is designed to promote economy and adjust for reasonable sensor aging/drift over time - so it's a good thing, really. But it's not magic.

Escpecially if the front O2's are lazy and/or contaminated. A proper diagnostic tool will confirm if the switchrates & accuracy of these is within spec. Worth a shot.

Good luck!

yeah i meant constantly. sorry wasnt very clear. every time i get on here its after working 9 hrs. so i am always tired. sorry for leaving that out. i guess a better way to put it is... supposedly, it monitors your driving and it adjusts consistantly from the last 500 miles driven. ok lets say you reset the computer. and you are at 20,000 miles it will monitor from that to 20,500 and adjust. then at 20,501 it will adjust from the monitored 20,001-20,501 and 20,002-20,502 and so on. that is what i have heard from somebody my dad went to school with and he always built engines and cars. and that was the experience he told me from his 01. if i am wrong, then sorry. just going by what i have heard.

Update

Here's an update on the fuel mileage situation:

It has actually turned into more of a problem than the fuel mileage. About a week ago I was at a drive through and shut the truck off to hear the speaker and when I went to turn it back on it would not start, it was choking like it was flooded.

I took it to a ford dealer the next day and they found nothing wrong the injectors did not need to be replaced the o2 sensors were fine spark plugs were fine. everything except for the rear brakes check out fine.

However after getting it back from the ford shop I have been getting slightly better mpg at 12.5 but still that is unacceptable.

On top of all this the dealer I bought the truck from called me last week and said they messed up and got the wrong payoff amount for the lease I traded in and now they want $2000 more from me.
