Huge MPG decrease in 2005 F150 2wd
Hello Timothy!
Regretfully,Adaptive is constantly adjusting - there is no set time frame - so a KAM reset will speed up the relearn because it's just tossed out the old data. But over time, it will go back to the same old thing... just the way it works. As well, Adaptive is designed to promote economy and adjust for reasonable sensor aging/drift over time - so it's a good thing, really. But it's not magic.
Escpecially if the front O2's are lazy and/or contaminated. A proper diagnostic tool will confirm if the switchrates & accuracy of these is within spec. Worth a shot.
Good luck!

Update
Here's an update on the fuel mileage situation:
It has actually turned into more of a problem than the fuel mileage. About a week ago I was at a drive through and shut the truck off to hear the speaker and when I went to turn it back on it would not start, it was choking like it was flooded.
I took it to a ford dealer the next day and they found nothing wrong the injectors did not need to be replaced the o2 sensors were fine spark plugs were fine. everything except for the rear brakes check out fine.
However after getting it back from the ford shop I have been getting slightly better mpg at 12.5 but still that is unacceptable.
On top of all this the dealer I bought the truck from called me last week and said they messed up and got the wrong payoff amount for the lease I traded in and now they want $2000 more from me.
