MotorCraft Plugs
Well I am getting ready to change my plugs in my truck. I purchased the Leslie extractor tool and the 9/16 plug socket and now I am going to get my plugs. I am going to stay with the MotorCraft OEM SP-462 but what I am having difficulty with is the dealer price is $20 each and Advanced Auto is $8 each. Why the huge differnece an I missing something here?

Dealers charge big numbers for parts. If the box is Motorcraft and same part number, they are the same.

The local dealership here in utah is totally outrageous. The good news is theyll install parts I buy so that can save allot of money if theres something I dont want to fix myself. I hate doing the plugs on the van so I always have the dealer do it. Buy the plugs off Rockauto and coils off E-bay and have them do it.

Keep this in mind about [Ford] dealers...
They'll charge MORE for their own parts when installed by their techs, than if you walk up to the parts counter and buy them yourself - same parts off of the same shelves - substantially more. I'm sure every dealership has their own system/rules, but I thought that was outrageous when I discovered this a few years ago.
