computer code/misfire

2002 F150 V8 4.6 2wd 189,000 miles

I went to Autozone and the code came back as random/multiple cylinder misfires. I was expecting a specific cylinder misfire so i could change the C.O.P., as i've done before. I've changed about 3 or 4 COPs in all, over the duration of owning the vehicle. The code was P0300.

the last thing i want to do is go to a dealer and take that reaming. anyone have any suggestions or experiences?

thanks in advance. Happy New Years..

thats the code it first picks up. wait awhile and go back it will pin point the cylinder. You should order a set of coils off E-bay and do them all they only cost $75 a set. do the plugs while your at it.

thanks Jet, how long are we talking, days/miles/ etc?. It just came on today, but I've been waiting for a week now to get a code since it's been gradually running worse and worse....

Shouldnt be to long. You should take it out on a empty road and get it up to speed around 50 or so and let it slow down gradually. that helps it detect the cylinder. do it a few times and then have them pull the code again.
