2v vs. 3v

Why do the 3 valve motors need a tune for installation of a CAI while the 2 valvers do not?

All of them need a tune to really take advantage of the CAI. The fuel to air table needs to be modified so it can take full advantage of the extra air available. The 3vs that must have a tune to be safe are the 2004s and 2005s. Most of them came from the factory with a tune in a near lean condition. You add a little extra air and you run lean, which can be highly detrimental to the engine.
