Crankshaft position sensor (Code Read ):help:

My service engine soon light cam on a couple days ago 2003 FX4 crew cad
5.4L .. Code at Auto Zone showed Faulty CPS ( Crankshaft position sensor )

I have looked for this thing all over my motor and cant find it anywhere .. Guess its time to go buy a chilton or haynes manual..

Wonder if its hurting my truck to drive it with this fault....

Nevermind .. I unhooked the ground wire waited 5 minutes and the hooked it back up np service engine light on anymore.. But while I was under the hood I noticed a rotten vac line going to the back of the manifold it was hooked into a Y fitting going to the PCV valve and something else ???? Put a new peice a vac hose and my hesitation problem is gone as well .. I think I may be getting ready for a set of Rancho front shocks as I see they are looking mighty rough... Oh well .... the sensor would have only cost 22.00 ... Thank God I just had to reset the computer.. I am going back to Auto Zone and have the codes run again and see if it cleared it up..

P0316
All it says on my free ticket is crankshaft signal is monitored..00 errors
Check trigger wheel for damage
poor elec connection

Maybe cleaning the ground helped ... I know every light in my truck got a heck of alot brighter.. and my truck is not ratteling when I start it..

The sensor should be down on the front left side of the engine if you are standing in front of the vehicle. There should be a plug on it. The one on my truck was kinda hard to get to but it was only one little bolt holding it on so it wasnt that bad.
