I have an '04 Lariat and I have the infamous "knocking" sound. From reading posts on this site, I have pretty much ruled out the cam phaser, since the knock is there at all RPMs, temps, etc. The tech video was a great help. My question has to do with the knock sensor. Can it limit the power, if it detects a knock? I am noticing that when I want to accelerate, either from a start or cruise speed, my 5.4 tends to hesitate or bog then it catches up and goes. Can the knock sensor be causing this? If so, can the knock sensor be disconnected without causing some other problems? Where is it located and how can I disable to see if this is causing my lack of power?
