It could be there for Dohc engines. Lincolns had all the bells and whistles, that may have been a necessity.

I wasn't sure if the Sohc (2 valve) 5fours had something there. ?? I just noticed this

Thanks Neal. I'll get another - I hope new ones come with a freakin bolt

I don't want to go with efans on this truck right now, but I did notice a difference when i fired it up without the belt -Quite a bit snappier when cracking the throttle. Think a new AC clutch would help ? - Just want everything to spin at it's best without an efan install.

I hope I cane get that belt on w/that second pulley.. It's going to be close.

Nice Engine - Great pics!

BTW- Why do you say the pulley goes on backwards to be right ? There's only one way that's right - Backwards isn't right ? I'm confused again.
look at the post under yours...number 2 and number 8 are what i replaced. one is the idler pulley (2) and one is the tensioner pulley (8)

while i had the tensioner assembly off, what was the front of the assembly, seemed like you would put the pulley facing foward on it, instead it goes on "backwards". i guess you would have to pull it off to understand. either way, be sure to look at how it comes off. lol my dad took it off and i put it on while he wasnt there...plus he didnt notice how it came off anyways, he assumed it went how i put it on.

Cool

HI!... All of mine had A/C. It's not really needed. It barely pushes on the belt at all. It just causes drag IMO. The earlier 5.4's seem to run them. I ran without one for about 5 years. Never had a problem, and I was revving up towards 7000RPM.
