Intermittant oil pressure guage
 

It sure is great to find a site dedicated to the Ford LOVER!

I just started getting an intermittant oil/water idiot light on the dash of my 2000 F150 and was doing some research. Since Haynes doesn't cover the lights in their book, I came across this site by the google guy. It seems by what I have read, that I need a new pressure switch (part # IU5Z-9278-DA), but Haynes doesn't say where that is. Could someone clue me in?

I depend on this truck to do all my hauling and don't need a breakdown, so all the info anyone can give is helpful.

The pressure switch screws into the oil filter adapter assembly.

There are two different versions of the adapter depending on whether you have two or four wheel drive. Just look fo rthe single-wire sensor screwed into the same chunk of meal that the filter is mounted to.

Wow that was not the easiest sensor to change, but it did the trick. If you want to change this sensor out, I would try to find a lift so you aren't laying on your back. The 4WD makes it hard to change because of lack of space. Small hands help. It seemed to be easier to RandR the part if the plastic oil diversion tray was out of the way. Be ready to get a pint or so of oil dropped on you when you take the sensor out.

..I usually suggest replacing it when you do an oil change....

Good to know, but it seems it would be just as difficult. When you are laying on your back in the Oregon rain, it doesn't matter when you do it. It's just that you must do it quickly. Thanks again for the tip though. Hope this helps others!

Ah, the power of the search engine. I just recently inherited a 2000 F-150 and I'm having the same problem. I'm going to check this out if it stops raining this month and have a lookie loo.
