Spark Plug and PCV question
Ok, so I was doing my normal 60k mile check up/ change. I changed all the fluids; Trans fluid & filter, Diff front and rear, trans axle, and oil.
1. So I went to do the spark plugs and my spark plug socket isnt the right size. I have a 9/16s that fits but its not a spark plug socket. Does anyone know where to get one? Snap On....Matco? I want to get these changed out by friday. I also know about the SPs breaking so its just another reason why I want one. 2. Do we have a PCV Valve? Or is it electronic or what? I cant find it anywhere. The parts store guy sold me a replacement PCV but I cant seem to find the original place for it. Then again, it is parts store guys. Pictures would help. Thanks BTW 04 F150 4x4 5.4L VIN 5 |
I ordered my plug socker from Sparkplugs.com
I can not answer the PCV question |
theres no pcv valve from what i understand. its electronic now. no clue how it works. and i think pretty much everybody is making the spark plug socket now. i think napa keeps them in stock now along with the broken plug tools.

I just put a piece of rubber hose down in the socket...

......that would do nothing..... If anyone else knows anything I'd appreciate it. Thanks that would do nothing??? What the hell do you think is inside a spark plug socket? a piece of rubber hose! Just gotta find some that fits the plug snug in the socket. . . . |
Ok, I'm not looking on how to get the spark plug out. Its common sense. I'm looking to see where I can get the spark plug socket itself.
The tool http://www.matcotools.com/ProductImages/6900.jpg |
Do *NOT* attempt to remove the spark plugs without researching the latest TSB first! There's a lot more to a 5.4 3V plug change than common sense.
|
Anybody - do you have a link or page or someting for the TSB referenced above by GLC?

I think this is the updated one
http://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricant...d/tsb/0819.pdf As for the spark plug socket, why do you need a spark plug socket, I just changed my plugs and didnt have the spark plug socket, just used deep well 9/16 socket, worked fine |
