transcooler mount

heres the cooler i went with. its a Hayden 1405 i think good for 26,000 GVW

i Tied into the existing trans cooler in my 2 core radiator from an F250. so that i would be cooling the fluid again thus increasing the effectiveness of the cooler.

and its mounted with zip ties for now. im gonna make rails eventually but so far the zip ties are holding lol

random one for good measure

this guy is nuts hes the burn out king for the local track here in temple. hes done i think he said 91 burn outs. on the original engine. 201K miles, his daily driver. 4.6L supercrew. he holds it in 2nd gear banging off the fuel cut. till one or both tires pop. hes got line locks and a Detroit locker. and glass packs. with no cats. he took them off to drop down his exhaust temps that were causing his engine to overheat from trapping to much heat in the motor.

The cooling capacity of that cooler is likely enough to where you don't need the in-radiator cooler.

Bypassing the radiator would be good so that you never risk the coolant-ATF mixing in the event of a leak in the radiator......you DON'T want those two fluids to mix.

never had or heard of them having that problem. even the new 04+ f150's run the same setup. first through the radiator then to the external in the front.

It happens. Not to everyone that runs the set up obviously, but it does happen.

Yes, but the auxilary cooler from the factory that is used in conjunction with the radiator has much less capacity than the one you got. If placed properly, with good airflow from the fan, a high capacity cooler alone would make a better set up then using the radiator in conjunction.

The radiator is also a heater for the ATF to help get it up to temp (~190*), but even that benefit is negligable. My AFT gets up to temp on it's own in fairly quick time and never seems to get above ~195* and most of the time it's at ~180*. All I have is a high volume axilary radiator.

I have a 44,000 gvw ( 45,000 btu) cooler with a 650 cfm efan and no longer use the radiator for cooling the atf. I'm looking for an affordable radiator that does not have atf passages. Anybody?

Wow.... Doing a burn out with the brakes on..... How impressive....

I did that with a POS 1985 S-10 5 speed and it had a bunch of construction tools in the bed and it was my bosses truck! Yes, it did have a LS rear end too, so both tires where spinning..

Sure, I could have done it till it blew the tires, but I needed to take the truck back to the office and use it the next day....

I did the same thing with my 1971 LTD when I was 16 years old.... I spun it till it blew... WOW.... Had to get a 'new' used tire! Not too easy to do when I was washing dishes at $2.35 an hour!! (yes, it was a looong time ago..)

I guess I'm not impressed by burn out contests is all.... If you are, that's great!! WOW...

Mitch

here's the video of this "coolness"

http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fusea...ideoid=8330176

I can't believe he did this and then drove the truck on the same streets where I was with my family

I was always tought that if you have to hold the brakes to get it to spin the tires you need more power
