well to be honest, oil is oil to me. i run pennzoil and everyone cringes. you can switch over just to feel confident your getting more than adequate protection.

also, in regards to the fram filters. i'd stay away from their low end stuff. i ran PH8A's on my truck for a long time then changed over to motorcraft since at wally they're the same price. less random ticking noise on start up. frams tend to have crappy aint-drainback valves.

Definitely stick with Motorcraft - Fram doesn't have an anti dbv and dry starts add up to a slow kill.

FL-820S is correct, if your still not sure lol. -

I think it's a good idea to find your oil of choice and stick with it. I used Castrol for 238,000 miles and the only things that tick are my noisy injectors.

It is definately NOT a PH8A / TG8A or any variant there-of. That's the counterpart to a Motorcraft FL-1A which has 3/4-16" threads.

sorry, you musta been referring to me. i've got 13 ford vehicles on this property. lol
use to run fram til i read and personally experienced the anti drainback valve issues with the ranger and put the 2 together. now i run MC's i catch at wally since theyre same price and better qual.

No, I was not referring to you. In the original post dalman asked if the TG2 or TG8A was the correct filter for his truck. I was explaining how the 8A was not. While the anti-drainback valve is a great feature of a good filter, it's not the end-all be-all item to have. An anti-drainback valve is only useful if a filter is mounted upside down or through a 90 degree angle. (yes, I know these trucks are) The killer thing about Fram is their cardboard end caps on the filter element inside...just gotta love that.

Just go to Wal-mart and get which ever Motorcraft filter you need. Don't know how much cheaper you can go than 3-4 dollars and still get a quality filter.

Plus you'll know for sure it fits.
