We have a 2000 Mountaineer 4.6 SOHC. I need to replace the sending unit switch. Any idea where it is? I've all over the motor with no luck.

 

You might want to look closer at your engine, Ford did not put 4.6L into Mounties in 2000. The V-8s were 5.0 SOHC engines. What its the 4th digit of your VIN? The 4.6L was first used in model year 2002 for that chassis.


As a general rule, Ford likes to put the switch near the oil filter. Look near the power steering pump if a 5.0L SOHC.

Hate to be nitpicky, but the 5.0 is not SOHC, it's the old pushrod 302. If you have a SOHC engine in there, it's the 4.0 V6.

 

OK my fault it's a 4.0 SOHC.

 

Aack..misread the manual. Good catch.


Manual for 4.0 SOHC just says "Left side of engine". That would be the driver's side.
