I get god mpg
 

My truck seems to always at least get 15 mpg (except maybe when I am towing - drop to 12/13 mpg). Just drove 800 miles and at 72 mph I got 18 mpg one way. On the way back I got 16 BUT I had it in 4x4 for 150 miles. I am amazed I got that good in 4x4 on the highway. Saw about 40 accidents in the snow, 2 cars flipped right in front of me. F150 was sure footed and handled conditions well!:beers:

You must be ready to accept challenge to what your getting.
How did you determine the fuel mileage?
Many get fooled by the means they use but hope you did get it.
When I tow 12,000 gross, I get between 9 and 10 over the same trip course each time, hit the same gas stations each time so it's pretty well set on the mileage.

Why? On the open road I get the same empty (no towing). I have several calculations at 17.8 from Mandeville to Humble both ways and from Mandeville to Dauphin Island or Mobile plus return. I dont find that hard to believe at all. I drive 75 with the cruise on. Stop and go kills me at 11mpg on rural highways between mandeville and Covington.

after reading yours i dont feel so bad about the 12.8 i get in town.

Before E-fan, SI/SO Magnaflow and rear cats removal I was getting about 11 mpg in stop and go traffic. Now I see around 13.5 wich is a nice improvement IMO.:thumbsup:

I have 05 screw 4x4 5.4, 3.73 with superchips tuner. I calculate mileage by hand. pretty happy considering....

Mine gets around 12 at home which has the occaisional 5 miles at highway speed. When I take it to work, which isn't often now that gas is 3 bucks, I can get 16.8 doing 70 in commuter traffic. And once, just the tank after I did a BG 44K fuel system treatment, I set the cruise on 62 for 100 miles... it calculated to 19.8 on that trip. The A/C doesn't affect the mileage in a way I can see, but temps below 25 seem to lower the economy a bit.
I think the reason for this is; the front hubs completely disengage at the wheels, synthetic diff oil and 5w20 engine oil reduce resistance in there as well. Plus if you want good mileage you have to resist the urge to push down that pedal on the right. That's the hardest part for me. I love to feel the torque build and hear the exhaust.

Your mileage seems decent and definetely believable there Iowa, a couple of my dad's trucks, the 2 Harleys 06 and 07 as well as the 07 FX4 s-cab showed around 17 avg mpg's. These things like the hwy alot more. I myself get at best 19-20 in the summer, winter is a few less. I've got a chip, running 91+, K&N, E-fans and anal routine maintenance. I wished I was in as good as shape.

Just thought Id post a positive mpg story for a change. :coffee: :angel: I prob should think about change fluids too as it could help now that Ive moved north and its -15 real temp out here in NW suburbs of Minneapolis. :( She still gets into o/d after only 1 mile or so even in the cold which helps the mpg. My 01 screw took a little longer.

Did you guys notice any diff with changing diff fluids in mpg or coasting?

I use my truck to commute 65 months of the year and the other half, I use my motorcycle. So blending 42 mpg with 16, I average about 30 all year. :thumbsup:

I'm VERY happy with the MPG in my FX4. Manually calculating it, I get 14.5 MPG in mixed driving (mostly city) and 19 MPG on the highway empty. I've gotten upwards of 21 MPG highway if I draft a semi for long distances.

My neighbor's Tundra only gets 12-13 MPG city or highway. Quite a gas guzzler for a truck that doesn't weigh anything.

is it a new tundra?

so does that mean you drive your motorcycle like 20 months a year??:lol:

I can't imagine . My half ton grunts very little with 8500 but it squats pretty damn good @ that weight. I would be on the tires @ 12,000 for sure.
