Fuel Fumes when idling

2005 5.4 v3 I am getting a gasoline smell when idling,also while driving with the heater on.? Any ideas.?

Have yo done any work to the engine lately? Spark plugs, etc.

Go back and check the torque on the plugs. Most likely you have a plug that needs to be tightened up.

Yep, it's your plugs. They need to be retorqued.

2005 was the year for the bad injectors in the 3v 5.4. I would worry about them.. if you have less mileage then the ford extended warranty on the injectors I take it to ford and have them check them out for sure.. I know for sure they extended it to 10 years cant remember the mileage but it was at least 100k

I'm over the milage for the extended waranty. What is the torque spec for the plugs.? Also which injector from RockAuto.?

I'd be even more concerned if its not covered. A leaky injector can cause hydrolock ruining your engine.. I would make sure they work right..

25-28 ft/lbs on the plugs. Make sure there is no anti-seize on the threads. Not sure on the injectors but since you just did the plugs odds are that is where the gas fumes are coming from.
