Which COP's
Was on my way to the airport and my truck (2001 SuperCrew 5.4) started chugging. When accelerating the service engine soon light comes but goes off when back to speed. Seems like a COP is the problem or maybe an injector? Need to order parts before I get back home.
What's the best COP's to buy? Is it best to go with OEM or are MSD or Accel a better choice? |
First thing you need to do is go over to Autozone and get the codes read. Don't guess at what the problem is.
If it is COP's, the $96 a set cops from Global on eBay are as good as any. |
Hi,
Have you had the code(s) read? That will help to make an accurate diagnosis. Autozone, I think, will read them for free. Make sure you get the actual codes, not the Autozone interpretation of them! Then post them here. If the problem is one or more COPs, you can get a good deal from Global: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160179405526 Quite a few of the folks here, including me, are running Global COPs with no problems. They cost $85 for the set of eight +$11 shipping. $96 for 8 COPs... can't beat it! I've been running mine for close to a year with no problems. I don't know anything about the performance COPs, but others do and I'm sure they'll help out. |

Analyze the codes before you order parts.

Do those Global COP's come with the boots? I went to advance auto, and they want around $10 per boot. I've been told to replace the boots when i replace the plugs... and it'll just be cheaper to put new COP's, assuming they come with the boots.
thanks! nolo |
everything, the whole assembly

Id agree with the others who are saying to get the codes read. No sense in guessing when the code reader will tell you exactly whats going on.
Id personally suggest Motorcraft COPs though. In the past 168,500 miles Ive only had to replace one coil. The Motorcrafts have served me well (knock on wood), and thats what I would go with. |
