'97 4.6 to '92 5.0 motor swap?
I have a 1997 F150 with a 4.6 and a 5.0 from my old 1992 Mustang. Does anyone know if I can put the 302 in my truck. I know that I will have to change a lot things if it is even possible. If it is possible, what all do I need to do the swap. My main concern is if the motor will mount up to my automatic transmission in the truck. Have asked some people about it but nobody seems to really know. Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to anyone who responds!!!!

I just have the 5.0 block on an engine stand and figured I could build it up without pulling my 4.6 and being without my truck for a longer time. Plus I have never had the greatest power or acceleration from my 4.6. I am just brainstorming options. I have about 140,000 miles on my truck and know I will have to rebuild or replace the motor sometime soon. Why do you feel the 4.6 is a better motor?

Newer technology, overhead cams. More HP and torque if I'm not mistaken.
However, if you are going to BUILD the 302, that might be different. The swap will be a real pain due to the electronics, your 97 is OBD2 and the 92 was EEC4 (am I correct, guys?) A 302 should bolt to a 4R70W, might want to verify that with someone else.

honestly my 4.6 was still running strong at 200k plus when I incurred enough body damage to total it. I'd sell the 5.0 to someone looking to beef up a 96 to 00 mustang, and then buy a 5.4 for your truck. I loved my 4.6 but in the mountains I've never experienced anything like my 5.4. jmo though
