Is there any tricks to changing the rear main seal on the 4.6 4X4 with a 5spd? I should have done it when i put the new tranny and clutch in 5000 miles ago but i didn't think about it and now its leaking about a quart every 2 weeks or so. Its dripping right out of the tranny where it mates to the engine. FUN!!! Any suggestions?

Is there away to change it without droping the tranny. Maybe moving it back or to the side?

 

And you still have clutch?

 

The tranny and clutch has to come out - and I do believe you also have to pull the flywheel and drop the oil pan?

Mud likes to eat lots of stuff! Its all part of life. I think that next weekend im going to tackle the seal.
