In all honesty for the money you would spend putting a 3v in you would do better getting a new 2v and using the extra money to upgrade it.

100% agree.

The 3V engine controls (PCM, etc) are ODB-CAN, which means anything connected will have to go - dash, harness, any chassis/body/GEM modules, etc... the works. Dunno - perhaps even the auto tranny integration is different.

Massage a 2V instead - they're still really good motors, and at least they don't have those funky spark plugs or extra VCT, ECT complexity....

IMHO ....:)

To tell you the truth, I have both. The 3v in my 05 and the 2v in my 01. Yes the 3v has alot more lower end torque (that I can feel), but it is kind of a funny motor. I start up my 01 and everything is fine. The 3v makes all of these weird sounds and rough idle that ford says is just fine, but drives you nuts.

I would do like stated above, replace with a newer 2v (if it even needs replacing) and do some aftermarket upgrades.
