Super Loud Fan

So I recently replaced my fan clutch, maybe 1000 miles ago. I have the plastic (abs I guess) fan on my truck. See the sig below for details. Anyway, this fan is flipping loud! I mean I cant hear the damn engine over it. I have aftermarket exhaust and between the damn fan and the exhaust I cant stand it! When accelerating, it is always the same in regards to volume. Throttle angle doesn't matter. Is it possible the fan is on backwards?
Additionally, i can definately feel the power loss after replacing it. The old clutch I think was completely gone. I was not willing to sink the $400 into electric fans, now I am thinking I should.
Anyway, how can I tell if the fan is installed correctly? Should it be so loud?

Maybe because its working right! lol Sounds like the clutch is locked onto the shaft (HOT position or idle speed). You know its moving air when it is loud. Does it spin freely by hand with the engine off (freespool) or does it feel locked down? It should be loud at first start up then taper off to an unoticable volume over the engine/exhaust noise.
