Engine missing and has a P0113 code

My truck just started erratically missing during acceleration or from a dead stop. No CEL light but it had a stored code P0113,I replaced the Temp. sensor and plugs again( 3 month old Autolite Plats and wires)no change. Both coils, and fuel filter are new, and no apparrent vacumm leak. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First pull the IAT Sensor and wire wheel it, teflon tape it and re-install. I doubt that will fix your miss - it has nothing to do with your ignition unless limp mode comes into play. Try cleaning it and reboot your comp anyway. Disconnect your battery before pulling it.

If that doesn't do jack, off the Autolites - My truck went 40 miles on a new set of double platinum's and two cylinders misfired. So I temporarily put my old Motorcraft plugs back in (I didn't have a choice at the time) and it ran fine until I could get back to store and get some new Motorcrafts and that was that..

Autolite is owned by Allied Signal, which is owned by Honeywell. Motorcraft and Autolite plugs are made in the same factory, BUT, Motorcraft plugs are made to strict Ford specs.

I'de be willing to bet if you dump the Autolites and put the spec plugs in and grease up the boots inside as well as the seam at the wires PO113 will disapear after the reboot..

Good Luck

Update

The truck finally threw a code, P0303 ( Misfire Cly. 3). I had a spare Autolite Plat. so I switched it out with the one I put in a day ago, reset the computer No more miss -YET I will p.u. some OE plugs tomorrow. Is there really that much of a tolerance difference between the Motorcraft and the Autolite plugs that will cause this headache? Thanks.

Fraid so - Some people can run them in there truck without a problem (so they say). IMO If there not misfireing - there robbing performance .

Motorcraft Plugs just work as they should. You don't need anything else unless you start to seriously boost your performance with other mods . Then you may want to upgrade to Denso's or NGK's. Those plugs are the only two that might be 1 notch above the Motorcrafts and have a very good repoor in these modulars.

Bosch is rated worst for these motors ..

I know my 98 is picky as hell

Good Luck with it

Replaced the Autolites with the Motorcraft Fine wires plugs, $4.99 a plug OUCH !!. Seemed to started up quicker and runs good. The passenger side plugs looked ok, The drivers side had a white coating on them ?
