Cleaning injectors

I have 2000 w/ a 4.2 L engine. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to clean the injectors? And how much for the engine am I going to have to tear down to do this, or is it better to just go ahead and replace them? Any pointer would be a great help.

is it running rough??? injectors dont need replacing unless they leak or you are going to build the motor up for more power etc.. just dont forget to change your fuel filter and injectors last the life of the truck usually.

If you feel the injectors need cleaning, and they do sometimes, make sure it is done with the kind that hooks up to the fuel rail and they have a can or canister of cleaner/fuel that the engine runs off of for about 10 minutes. This type is far better than anything you can put in your gas tank and run thru. I do mine about every 60k.

Agreed, the kind that goes in your tank is ok, but it can't match the type the hooks to your fuel rail...But if you don't want to go through that kind of trouble, I would use Seafoam, but you really can't listen to me, because I am a Seafoam freak, if I broke my arm, I'd rub some Seafoam on it, lol...
