OK i have a problem...

I finshed this swap months ago...
about 5 months ago...

TOOK forever to get my tune due to mess ups ...

NOT happy at all...

ok well i got my tune and dyno'ed and it ran LEAN so lean crazy...

well on the 4.6 tune it runs fine.... But not sure if fine is really fine...
shift problems but besides that....

OK now the qestion....
Did your motor make sounds befor you got your tune ??
My truck just started tossing P0171 and P0174...
And like 2 days ago it posted P0174 and P1285...
NOW 5 months no codes untell now....

Ok i had a vac hose melt but i just fixed that and i was
hopeing that was why my tune got so messed up...

but i fixed it and nothing... Tune still run weard...

now could i have a leak or something because the motor sounds
like it pings or has a leak or something...

What im saying is those who did the swap how did your motor sound
and run with the 4.6 stock tune....

Because i cant tell if its the tuneing thats makeing my motor sound like
a leak or ping or could something be wrong... OR could it just be that it makes
that sound and im just talking....

I dont know if they messed up or the motor is leaking..

I cant tell because i dont know if the stock 4.6 tune is doing it or not

 

the motor is leaking? leaking what? A tune would have nothing to do with leaking w/e it is your leaking... sounds like a vacuum leak to me, that would make it go lean.

 

when im on the 4.6 tune it runs like a champ but sounds like its
pinging or leaking or something...

but when im on the new tune the truck like go's into a limp mode..
on the dyno it was real lean...

Im just not sure if its the stock 4.6 tune makeing the motor ping or if
the motors messed up..

im not running a tune i should so i cant go doing stuff when a messed base ya know...

but i was told the data log looks good...

and they said they think that my MAF is reading not the same because
i cut my stock air filter box half way and put a K&N filter in...

but i dont think its that because my truck has ***** on the 4.6 stock tune...

i dont know i need someone who did the swap to tell me how it ran on the 4.6 tune

i dont see a vac leak or what not..

and i sprayed **** over the motor nothing happen..

hes done many of 4.6 to 5.4 swaps and tunes for them hell get it working for you.

 

Well, when i did my swap and ran it on the 4.6 tune, it was lazy and had lean codes. when i put in the 87 tune for the 5.4, i get a slight pinging noise at tip in.have not tried 93 tunes yet.

 

No pings here on the 4.6 tune. I ran on my 4.6 tunes till I got the new chip with the 5.4 tunes. No ping. It is running lean but that is being looked at. Your P1285 code is for an overheating condition. Did it ever go into failsafe cooling mode? How does the truck idle? Did you inspect the 5.4 before install for mechanical issues? Any air or vacuum leaks? Running on the 4.6 tune will cause it to be lean. What year 5.4 did you install?

I think im going to take the intake apart and put new seals in and stuff...

i wish i could find out whats makeing the sound

I can only hear it when i put a load on the motor..
like if im just driveing I cant hear it but once i give it gas you can hear it..
sounds like air rushing out of a hole...

 

check this out...

i go to do a oil change...

start the truck let it warm up and it sounds a little funny...

then the rpms go down a little truck shakes and it drops more in rpms then
it just shuts off....

happen 3 times...

the truck could have done this the whole time just i naver stay off the gas..

truck drives ok tho...

 

it sounds like all my injecters are makeing a ticking sound i think and when i move a hose around my motor the ticking sound get loud under the intake...
