4.9 oil pan

4.9 oil pan

How much should I be paying to have this job done at a dealership ? is this something a good backyard mech can do out of his garage? this a 1994 with 92k.thanks or should I sand it and xpoxy it ? two small holes about two inches away from the plug

On the 4.9 it's pretty easy. I changed a wrist pin in a '78 from the bottom, in the driveway no less. You should try to get a new one. Epoxy would just be a band-aid. Ford apparantly had issues with their oil pans in the early to mid '90's.
I had to replace one on a '90, a '93, and on a '94. All V8's. All a pain in the ***.

Don't waste your time, money, & effort patching it. Just replace it. You can change a 4.9L pan by just loosening the fan shroud, removing the engine mount nuts from below, & lifting the engine until it hits the firewall.
