So, the 2003 5.4's have one as well??? When I did a search, everyone with a 2004 + was doing this mod.

Did you try this already? What are the cons you experienced?

Yeah, you have one. The truck in the link I gave you is a 2000 and many people have done this in the 97-03 class intakes. I did mine a little different , I increased the size of the silencer from 2 1/2 inches to 3 1/2 inches. It was biatch for know gains - If you try to remove the stretch rubber piece your in for a treat , don't even try , you'll trash easily, that glue they use melts the two materials together so you can imagine what it's like getting it apart...

I wouldn't attempt it again , save for a good after market system or do the Open box filter mod w/good aftermarket filter upgrade if you looking to gain a little..

This is what it looks like -

Open Air Box Mod -

Oh, I see. I do have the "drop in" K & N filter. Got that a few days ago. I read somewhere its good to "reset" the computer after adding this. What are your thoughts on that? If any...

My intake doesn't even look anything like the one in those pics. Mine doesn't have the conical air filter...it has an air filter that sits in some frame and slides right in above the throttle body. Are you sure that mod is for 04+? My buddy has an 06 and his is the same as mine.

I read somewhere, that you should unhook the battery, give it a few minutes, then turn your lights to the "on" position......then hook the battery back up. This is supposed to reset the computer as you will see all the gauges go to the right and come back....

I'm not sure - I never heard of that before .

The comp will set back to default and re-test after 15 minutes of it being disconnected.

You can pull your PCM fuse in the power distribution box(PDB) . Theres another under the dash. The fuse panals very per year so you would have to look them up in this book that came with the truck -
