Have a 2004 Ford F150 that just started feeling like it is not getting enough gas sometimes. Had a machine hooked up to it because the engine light came on and it came up with a code of all 8's. what does that code mean. It is a v8.

 

It means you need a new machine to hook it up to.

04 was the first year for a new communications protocol for scan tools for Ford. You must use a "machine" that supports "CAN OBDII".

I didn't realize the protocol had changed - means I now need a new scan tool.

The one I have worked fine on my 2002 F-150, so I guess it is now outdated.
