5.4 Cam Options

I did a search, but came up with nothing. So my question is, what are some good cam options for the 5.4 in the late 90's-2003ish trucks (not exactly sure on the years this style was made, but you get the idea). And if there is some reason there are few/no threads on cam options, please enlighten me.

**Crap...I can't believe I put this here, just wasn't paying attention I guess...could a mod please move this to the proper forum? Sorry about that...

Thanks for the replies

the modular motors are relatively new to the aftermarket industry. also, ford seems to be trying to nerf any and all aftermarket sales for their vehicles (stupid)

comp and crane cams have a decent line up of cams for the 5.4 / 4.6.

i have the comp cam 270ah's, have not been run yet tho so i cant tell ya how much i love em. but they are designed more for the top end from my understanding

fyi 97-2003 or 2004 heritage is that bodystyle. although the 97-98's had a more destinctive front bumper than the later years.

dont feel bad about it, these motors are getting the much deserved aftermarket lovin they need now. there are plenty of engine build options now compared to just a few years ago.

Wow, those prices are not bad on those cams either. Does anyone know any numbers on what you can gain with a basic intake, exhaust, tune, and cam setup? Say, with the 270's klitch is going to install?

Hey Klitch, did you get the springs with your cams? It says it "recommends" them, but if they can make money off it, they'd probably recommend them even if it made it run worse lol...

thanks for all the replies everybody

270's can add up to 70hp according to the book i found, but thats on a tuned engine with a cleaner intake / exhaust.

i got manley high rev springs

i believe the stock springs are softer / slower spring rate than the ones with the 270 cam.

Nah, 70hp may be a little high (not sure on that one), but 10hp is not near what a good cam will make. I was expecting somewhere around 40-60hp. Heck, the HO cams in the non-HO Dodge 4.7 bumps the hp up from 230 to 260, and it's not nearly as big as this cam (you don't have to change anything else, the cam is all- and it's only $240)
