New EGR valve?
Does anyone know where I can find an EGR valve online for a 97 f-150 with the 4.6? I live in Alaska, so prices are pretty high. Thanks

normally those last quite a while? i'll look around but you sure you need it?

Egr
what i would do is go to autopartswarehouse.com they have evrything for your truck and cheap 2
|
before you go and spend the money, what makes you think you have to replace it? just because a code points to the egr valve doesnt mean it is the egr valve. other things going bad will make it look like the egr is bad. someone else should elaborate.

ah yeah, the DPFE sensor is related to the egr, will throw an egr code. that doo dad is spendy thru ford.
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...26&postcount=2 read that. your DPFE on your truck should be about the middle of the block, along the plenum, pretty close to the fuel rail on the drivers side. it may be either black plastic or aluminum. |
better yet, not too old of a post. some useful info.

I think the emissions warranty on a 10 year old truck has long since expired, regardless of mileage..... There are dozens of posts there that say to not waste your money on EGR valves since they seldom fail (I've written a bunch of those myself). Perform a proper diagnosis, then make the needed repair. Hey all,
Thanks for all the replies! My egr tube (from header to egr valve) has a bad leak in it, due from a previous owners apparent "extension" (brake line and muffler jb weld) Could this cause an egr code due from lack of gases? Also, if that could be it, does it sound right that maybe you would have to extend the pipe for a header? I was planning on getting both the EGR and the tube, but maybe I will just start with a new tube.... |
