4.6 mustang vs. 4.6 f150

What are the internal differences that make the mustang GT engine more powerful than the f150's. I am curious because I am thinking about installing one of these in my f150 along with the transmission. I will also be installing cams into it to correct the torque curve and get it down low where it should be. Now with the computer and wiring harness, would that all I would need to convert a 4.2 v6 to this engine.

PS: I know I will also need new motor mounts.

What else would I need.

I'm new to the Ford world, but i'd imagine it has to do with the PI (power improved) heads, better intake manifold and throttle body, tuning, and exhaust. As for the actual swap you may need a new harness, but like I said i'm a ford newb so take that with a grain of salt

cams are the same.

it is the intake, exhaust and the tuning. so the long block of a truck and car should be the same.

if the cams are different, then someone with dealership access should provide the different parts numbers between the truck and mustang cams. i think the cams in the 4.6 are the same as the 5.4.
this is all for the 2v, i am not sure about the 3v.

I could be wrong, I thought I read this info before.

I don't Know much about the technical differences, but I have a '98 GT(romeo) engine in my '00 F-150. I was sent the wrong motor but put it in anyways. The only MODs I had to do was change the front cover, two Pullies and reuse the mounts from my truck.

one thing youll need is an actual mustang 4.6. thats the v8 used in them. the 3.8 was the v6 and now the 4.0L is the mustang v6. the 4.0 is also used in the ranger with only a difference of 3 hp usually between the mustang and ranger.

I don't think that GTs came with an aluminum block, do they, or have they?

Cool

HI!... A MUSTANG GT never came with a aluminum block. The only differences between a truck 4.6 and a car 4.6 is the intake manifold and PCM tuning.

HI!... The only reason for the different part #'s is that the MUSTANG got ROMEO heads and the truck 4.6's got the WINDSOR heads unless you were unfortunate to get a ROMEO 4.6 in your truck. Anyway the ROMEO heads have a different valve cover bolt pattern than the WINDSORS and the ROMEO heads have a girdle that goes over the cams. Basically the same heads and the cam profiles are the same. All NON 'P.I' cam profiles are the same and all 'P.I' cam profiles are the same.
