PCV Valve

Sorry for the repost on this issue.. I did use the search button but didnt find the answer I was really looking for.

2002 SuperCrew 4x4 5.4 engine, does that engine still have the PCV valve in it and does it need to be changed on a regular basis???

Thanks.

It does, and it's in the passenger's side valve cover. I think the official maintenance schedule is something like every 100K miles, but they're cheap, so I'd go every 60Kish personally.

I highly recommend Motorcraft for a replacement - ultimately, a PCV valve is a calibrated vacuum leak. Use of a valve that isn't quite right within the factory parameters could cause some driveability problems.

when you say PCV you dont have to say valve. you can say PC valve but PCV valve is incorrect. the V in PCV stands for valve.

just thought id clarify that.

The "V" stands for Ventilation. Positive Crankcase Ventilation.

Thanks Quintin.. I appreciate the explanation. I am just over 72K miles and just trying to do some of the preventative maintenance on the girl.
