high pressure in gas tank

on a 95 f150 5.8.. my cuz tells me that when he goes to take the gas cap off gas starts to pour out.. I haven't had a chance to look at or play with it.. But i have never heard of a so much pressure in a gas tank that it gas would come pouring out when u take teh gas cap off.. is there a common problem with this?? or does anyone have any ideas onm what could cause this???

I bet you have dual tanks and the rear tank is feeding the main tank due to a leaky fuel selector valve in which the laws of mother earth are causing it to over flow. Do you know the serious of this gravitational problem

Ditto. It's the selector valve. He'll want to run it off the other tank until he replaces the valve. He can use the tank that's pumping it full to refuel the other tank on the fly.

Just be glad where not on Jupiter cause he'd have one hell of a mess to clean up

It's a fairly common problem for the shuttle valve to stick open, allowing fuel from the OTHER tank to be returned to the one that's overflowing. Tell him to run on the overflowing tank until it's nearly dry, then switch & run that one dry, then switch back & there'll be fuel in the 1st one again.

When he gets fed up with it, tell him to remove the bed or drop the tank & replace the whole FDM. Click my signature link & look in the EFI Fuel Pump album for plenty of pics & diagrams.

BTW, smart@$$3$...
It has nothing whatsoever to do with gravity. ;)
