mercury marquis efans

i just ordered UD pulley from troyer performance.

does anyone remember the marquis efan fitting in place of F150 clutch fans?
i might have just enough to stay true to the whole mod if local auto parts recycler locates one of these setups for me. what years fit?

that will work fine.. ford fans push massive cfm. more than any aftermarket one. they also last longer and are more reliable.. i have one on my truck.

If I am reading this correctly, an efan from a crown vic, grand marquis, or town car will fit our trucks??? I have been contemplating an efan swap, and this would be much cheaper than one from Troyer. Truck in question is a '90 F250 with a 351. Thanks guys,

Hunter

I have found a Lincoln Mark VIII elec fan for $65.00. It is a single fan with shroud. Supposed to push at least 4000 CFM. So if I buy this fan, and add an electronic controller this is all I would need? A dual fan setup wouldn't be necessary?? Also - how hard is it to mount these fans on our radiators? Any special rigging necessary?

Thanks.

if you use the mark v8 fan, use the dccontrol.com controller. It features a soft start and varies the output to meet the temp setpoint. I had a mad controller on my tbird/mark8 fan and it fried....

I have now found another fan off a Mark VIII, but this one is supposed to have the temp control included. The whole thing could be mine for $70.00. However, the temp control comes on at 155 F - which seems a little low to me. I looked at the dccontrol site, but the temp control was over $100.00 by itself. Seems a little pricey. Would the single fan temp controller on the Troyer site work for this fan??

The thing about the mark 8 fans is that they have a HUGE draw at startup. The will fry every controller on the market with out the soft start feature. The extra price you pay on the dccontrol unit is worth the peace of mind for down the road.......

The factory temp control is useless because the fan gets the feedback from the mark8 pcm, which you wont have.

Thanks for the quick replies....

So what about this fan that has the temp control already with it?? Wouldn't that work in place of the dccontrol setup? If I am going to buy this fan, I need to do it in the next couple of hours, so I want to make sure it is right for my truck (2001 Screw/5.4). Otherwise I'll pass until the right thing comes my way.

EDIT - I see you are saying that the temp control setup with this fan won't work.

I would still get the fan and dcc controller. It is the best combo out there. CHeck my gallery for pics of the fan install. I dont have pics yet of the controller install yet.

Gobra - I checked your gallery. It looks like the same fan, as far as I can tell. By looking at your pictures, it seems you did some home-made modifications to get the fan to fit over the stock shroud. Doesn't look overly hard though. If I get the fan, I might PM you for some advice on the install. Thanks for your help so far!

Well, I went ahead and bought the fan and temperature relay kit. The whole thing went for $56.00. I'll try and check back in to this thread once it arrives in the mail.

i tried a couple of auto parts recyclers online and got a cluster ******* of auto reply emails anywhere from "we have it" (obviously not a calculated reply)to "fill out another form". Does anyone have good luck with online junk yards? anyway, i plan to scan some yards in my area when i know what i'm looking for. most listers want the added security of a second fan/controller and everyone seems to be dead set on a controller. i have seen fans with built temp controllers (hayden, summit etc) that wouldn't theoretically need the controller. what is the controller for....air conditioning (N/A on my truck)....? i remember my watercooled VW had just a temp and relay circuit (CLICK and its on CLICK and its off).

dixiebandit69 09-12-2006 04:07 PM

I love online junkyards! I see what they have, I call them up and arrange shipping, then I send them the check/Money Order, and they send me the parts. That is how I got my Mark VIII fan (that I haven't put on yet because i have too much $#it to do right now and I can't decide on a controller.).

the mark VIII sounds like a direct fit for my shroud, what is the diameter?

gobra 09-12-2006 04:35 PM

the mark 8 fan has its own shroud.
