to cam or to E fan

Hey guys Im brand new to this fourm so far i think its great. I have a couple of questions for you. First my truck, I have a 97 half ton 4x4 with a 5.4. riderite air bag system, an E-bay aftermarket intake. (probably gonna get ripped for that), a Edge tuner, true duel exhaust no cats 36 in. glass packs, stock ported throttle body vale and elbow, Now Im not a racer I just pull a really heavy goose neck trailor and want to do a good job of it. I have been kicking around E fans or cams I did some searching and havent seen anybody talking about bigger cams and springs without changing heads. has anybody done this is it worth it? Or would i be better off dollar for dollar with the E fans? Or can you think of something else that I am skipping that should have been done already? thanks for you time and once again great job on a awesome fourm!!!

cams is alot of money on these OHC engines.. e fans and some Underdrive pulleys will help you out

Your best results for pulling is a lower set of gears at 4.10 if you don't already have them.

I agree, gears would be more beneficial for towing.

Id look into gears first.

And definatley go with the EFans first. With aftermarket cams and otherwise stock heads, your not going to see much of a power increase, plus, your more than likely going to move your power range further up in the RPM band, which you dont really want for towing. You would need a custom tune with the cams too.
