Truck won't start after oil change
On my 1999 F-150 with the 5.4L I changed my oil and went to start my truck a few hours later and I couldn't get it started. The truck was acting like it wasn't getting fuel. The engine would turn over but not fire.
I spoke to my friend about the problem and for some reason he remembered seeing a sticker in the engine bay about if the truck doesn't start, check the fuel pump shut off switch. The sticker said I could find more information in my owner’s manual. Naturally the information I needed wasn't found in the owner’s manual.
I got fed up and went under the truck and messed with the fuel filter for a bit because I have no idea where I could find this fuel pump reset switch. I must have done something that worked because I finally got my truck started.
So can anyone sympathize with me or am I on my own for this one?

I forget what it is actually called in the manual, but it goes by a few names...fuel inertia switch is what I think it is.
But in any case, as piperc said, it's going to be located behind the kick panel on the passenger side.
But since you didnt do anything with it, I dont see it being the cause of your problem...

When you messed with the wires you most likely did something to the connector on the Digital Transmission Range Sensor (DTRS). It is on the same side of the tranny as the fuel filter. The tranny is shifted electronically and the DTRS is connected to the shifter cable so it can tell what position the shifter is in, in order to determin what gear to place the tranny in. If this sensor is going bad it may not correctly sense when the tranny is in Park or Neutral and it will not allow the engine to start.

dye7barrel,
JMC may have hit on it, but I think that if what JMC said happened, the engine would not even crank over.
Is it possible that you hurt or unpluged the oil pressure sending unit (it's on the oil filter flange right next to the engine block) If I'm not mistaken it needs to see a couple of pounds of oil pressure during cranking before the computer will fire the injectors
