PS. My measurements were during periods where I was driving conservative. It isn't hard to get 8MPG and thats usually about how I drive.
I'm a BMW M5 lover stuck in a F150 world. |

My last tank full ran at 9 mpg. But that probubly had more to do with the plow on the front of the truck than anything else.
Usually in the low to mid 14s otherwise. Doug |
Just filled up today with 275 miles on the tank and i got 12.9 mpg highway at 70 mph. K&N SUCKS!!!!!!
Oh, it's a 98 XLT supercab shortbox 4x4 w/ 4.6 auto |
The worst I got was 15.5 MPG. That was my last tank when I was heavy on the gas( raced a friend on the interstate for about 10 miles at 100+) btw beat his 1990 chevy. I avg. about 17 or so.

22 on the higway with 33's and 3.55 gears. Good gas mileage, but sucks at low end tourqe.
|
33's with 3.55 gears isn't helping your low end torque any.
You should consider a steeper rear end gear... |
97 4.6 33's new magnaflow exhaust, mac intake ,roll n lock bed cover, 138k miles. The best I have seen from my truck on the hiway is 12.5 to 13.5 and around town is 10 to 11. Around town I have a heavy foot(new exhaust is begging me to get on it) .

i get upper 13's highway '97 4x4 107k bed cover, flowmaster super 40, K&N. and 285's

1997 Expedition 4x4, 4.6 liter, 3.55 rear, 17 inch tires, bone stock
Best Highway MPG - about 19 mpg (400 mile drive) - summer blend 87 octane Average MPG - about 50/50 highway and city - summer blend 87 octane - 14.5 mpg Average MPG - about 50/50 highway and city - winter blend 87 octane - 12.5 mpg City driving - don't know but I suspect 13 mpg or less |
I have a 97 4.6L f150 4x4. I get 14-16 during the summer, 12-14 during the winter. When towing it only gets 9-11.
