Check engine P0405 diff. EGR problem?
I have the P0405 code on my 4.6 liter 2002 F150. Is this the same problem as all the other EGR posts? Do I need to try to clean it ? or replace it??

It seems strange that you would get a p0405 code for an F150. How did you get the p0405 code and was it the only code retrieved? p0405 would indicate that we have an electronic EGR valve on our trucks which we don't.
Maybe you really got a p1405 which points to the DPFE sensor? https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ighlight=p1405 |
This is the code that came up on the unit the guy at Auto Zone used???????????

Did you write the code down or are you going from memory?

I went to another repair shop and checked the code again. P0405 I saw it ans wrote it down myself!

Yes, getting the P0405 code is possible, many people have gotten it before, this is old news. Just follow these instructions and you should be fine...

Where did these folks post about the p0405 code? |
P0405 - DPF EGR Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Detected. This code is set when DPFE sensor voltage drops below .2 volt. Plugged EGR ports will not cause this. This is caused by a bad DPFE sensor 99.99% of the time. Being a FORD tech, I have seen this code many times.

Thanks for the replys. I will look into replaceing this. Is this expensive? Is it a difficult part to replace?

I believe your delear can clear it for you at no charge -- seems a few 4.6, including mine had it, the reprogrammed the computer to correct the error and has been fine w/ the exception of two blown plugs that are currently being changed at their expense
