RTV Curing time (non-ford question)
Hello..working on the wife's subaru, fixing a leaky oil pan. Got the thing back on, but according to the instructions on the tube, it says 'sets in one hour and cures in 24 hours.' What does all this mean as far as putting oil back in/starting/ driving? Thanks in advance. Oh, it's the permatex copper stuff, and, after working on that thing, I'll never whine about working on my truck again!

Did you apply the Permatex copper to the pan gasket?

I assume you are using:
PERMATEX® ULTRA COPPER® Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker.
and not the anti-seize stuff.
My personal advice is to let it cure for the full 24 hours before you add oil back in. I had leaks once that Im sure was because I got in too much of a hurry and did not let the RTV cure long enough.
That means "no oil in pan" for 24 hours which means "no driving for 24 hours.
