thoughts on 2004's
Well what does everybody think about the 2004's?
|
they look nice, I just really do not like the rear end...it just doesnt look right to me. I guess if anything, the tail lights seem too small compared to the size of the rearend.
Other than that, I like them. If you are asking about the '04 engines, sorry, i didnt notice the folder :) |
iron horse Review of 04' F150:
Pros Nice interior, nice main door design, more stock power, better stock suspension and most importantly - FAR BETTER STEERING. Cons Front end looks "chopped off", entire exterior design is too modular and square, no custom tuned chips, trans. is "sealed"?, price of supercharged versions will be outrageous, and most importantly - NO FLARESIDE BEDS:mad: For me, if I wanted the "modular and square" exterior look, I would get a Ford Sport Trac (which I like alot and almost got instead of my F150). .........will be keeping my 99' supercharged (and soon to be lightning supercharged) supercab flareside (with two EXTRA factory "shaved suicide" doors) for a while :D Note: True, they offer a flareside model.....but the new flareside looks more like a "lipside"......it is a flat side bed with only a lip around the fender well. |
Say it ain't so -- no Flareside beds? I just bought my 2000 F150 Flareside SuperCab 4x4 in August. I had planned on keeping it for several years -- looks like there won't be anything to tempt me to trade anytime soon!

I like the looks from the front. Mixed on the interior. I don't like how tall/deep the walls of the bed are; my boss has one and doesn't like that either. I'm also not sure about the rear shocks being mounted so far out; looks to me like a sure-fire way to collect mud, ice, etc.
I agree with iron horse about the Sport Trac. I really like those as 4 doors is more of a need for me than a large bed. Problem is that dealers are much too proud of those things. I tried to trade recently for a used one but the dealer wanted $2000 too much for me. |
I don't plan on getting rid of mine but I did want to experience the new design and test out the "upgrades". I drove a charcoal grey Lariat 4x4 extended cab. I like my flairside bed and they no longer offer those. I was not impressed with the new truck. It was easier to get into than mine but the interior looked like someone went to Pep Boys with 20 bucks and got some cheap carbon fiber and woodgrain paneling. Although touted as 300 HP the truck FELT slower than mine. It might be faster in the 1/4 but driving it like I drive mine, which is pretty normal. It felt like the low end torque wasn't there. It felt like mine feels with a BIG load of firewood. After the test drive I came home and did some research, I think the new one felt like it did due to only making 15 more lb/ft of torque than mine but weighting 800 more pounds due to the full box frame. I liked the heated seats and mirrors that mine does not have. It did handle better than mine. The sticker price was 38Gs:eek: That is a ridiculous price for a truck! I'll be sticking with the ol' girl until the "next new thing" in F150s comes along.

They do make a "Flareside", it's just the curves aren't as aggressive as the older models. You have to look close to be able to tell it's a Flareside. The yellow 2004 on the main page is a Flareside.
